We got back to the castle very close to the sunrise. Orion took me in his arms, wrapped in his white shirt because he was the one who ripped my clothes into shreds, and we walked through shadows.
âStill not feeling any better,â I said, clutching his shirt tight around my body, my eyes closed.
Orion chuckled and carefully set me down on the floor. The wood underneath my bare food was cool. The fireplace in our suite had died, and the room was enveloped in darkness.
I yawned, walking towards the bath. âI left my furs in the kitchen.â
âI assume you have more than one coat?â Orion followed me.
I glanced over my shoulder at him. âYes, I do. But that one was my favorite.â
âNoted.â He walked up to me, standing next to the vanity, and kissed my forehead. Once more, goosebumps skittered over my skin, my chest swelling with warmth. It was such a sweet gesture. Unexpected. âI will get it for you tomorrow night. It is too close to sunrise to travel now.â
I sat at the vanity and started removing the pins from my hair. The twins did an amazing job with my hair, but after the night I had, it was a birdâs nest. Orion leaned against the sink, watching me intently.
âLet me help,â he said after a few minutes.
He walked over and carefully removed a pin, making sure he did not tug on my scalp. This manâthis vampireâwas magnificently strong, yet so gentle with me. I watched him work in the mirror.
âDo you sleep with me during the day?â I asked after awhile. âYou are never there when I go to bed, or when I wake up.â
Tension gripped my stomach, clutching it in its iron-clad grip.
âI do, yes,â he said. âI did not sleep in our bed when you did not want me there, but otherwise, yes. You are my wife, after all.â
I was relieved to hear that. So, I rolled my eyes at him.
âDo not roll your eyes at me, sunshine,â he said, voice smooth. A shiver ran through me. âBratty behavior has consequences.â
I pursed my lips, catching his gaze in the mirror. âYou keep warning me, yet all those words seem to be empty threats.â
He arched an eyebrow. My heart picked up the pace, racing in my chest. âYou like to flirt with danger, I see.â
I liked to flirt with him, and he was danger and death personified. So, I supposed he was right. I smiled, shaking my head. After passing out tonight from the intensity of pleasure, I was not certain if I could take any more of it right now.
âGood girl,â he purred.
His fingers running through my hair felt nice. With his vampire precision and speed, he was done much sooner than I would have been if I had done it myself.
When I stood up from the vanity, he grabbed my hips and pulled me close to him. My naked breasts were pressed against his cool, naked chest. His white shirt covering my shoulders slipped, pooling underneath our feet.
